9. John R. Whitman "Whit" PROCTOR12,17,20,22 was born on 24 May 1886 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.10,11,12,18 The 1900 Census shows his birthdate as January 1886. He died from myocarditis due to tuberculosis on 1 September 1948 at the age of 62 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.11,12,18,26 He was buried on 2 September 1948 at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.12,26 He had at least one other daughter and at least one other son, both of whom were deceased as of May 2000. John R. Whitman "Whit" PROCTOR and Salemah Christine WILLIAMS12 lived in Sussex County, Virginia in 1920. They were married.12,27 Salemah Christine WILLIAMS27, daughter of George WILLIAMS and Penny BARNES, was born on 28 January 1892.11,28 She was living in 1962 at Rt. 1, Box 315 in Pinetops, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.28 She died of "acute myocardial infarction" on 16 June 1962 at the age of 70 at Edgecombe General Hospital in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.11,28,29 Salemah was buried on 19 June 1962 at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.28
